O call not me to justify the wrong,
哦，別找我來合理化你的愚蠢（錯誤），
That thy unkindness lays upon my heart;
你的冷酷對我心是嚴重冒犯；
Wound me not with thine eye but with thy tongue:
用舌頭傷我，而不是用你眼睛：
Use power with power, and slay me not by art,
用能力殺我，而不耍險陰手段，
Tell me thou lov' st elsewhere; but in my sight,
告訴我愛上別人；但在我面前，
Dear heart forbear to glance thine eye aside:
親愛的，可別把目光側視張望：
What need' st thou wound with cunning when thy might
又何必再耍手段？當你的才幹（能力）
Is more than my o' erpressed defence can bide?

Let me excuse thee, ah my love well knows,

Sonnet 139 直譯是不容易懂的。第三句到第六句是說「親口告訴我，而不是心不在焉的眼神，讓我知道妳有外遇」，
第三第四句順序上對調。第九句到第十二句是一個反諷的說辭，「說她的目光看別人，是去傷害作者的敵人」。第十三
第十四句，作者結論： 還是希望他愛人眼神看著他，即使會致他於死。渫，音曳，排除釋放之意。
