They that have power to hurt and will do none,
他們有能力傷人，而沒有去行，
That do not do the thing they most do show,
那些人外表性感，卻無感於性，
Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,
他們吸引別人，自己卻像石頭，
（那些人正事不做，而只會做秀）
Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow;
不情願，冷漠，且很難被惑誘；
They rightly do inherit heaven's graces
他們正當地承繼天上的恩稟，
And husband nature's riches from expense;
而沒花費的經營自然的財富（美麗）；
They are the lords and owners of their faces,
他們是擁有美貌的真正主人，
Others but stewards of their excellence.
其他人只是自己美貌的奴僕（隸）。
The summer's flower is to the summer sweet,
酷夏長的花，才有酷夏的風（香）味，
Though to itself it only live and die,
雖然它們也只是燦生後凋萎。
But if that flower with base infection meet,
只要一旦那花（寵）兒染上了病媒（霉），
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
最低賤的野草也會比它尊貴：
For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;
最甜的東西變質後會變酸餿，
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.
腐爛的百合花比野草更難嗅（受）。

第八句 Others but stewards of their excellence. 其他人用他們美貌，
只是討好取悅別人,其他人只是在侍候他們的美貌。
從第九句開始以花擬人，夏天的花也容易腐朽，直接翻譯較富涵意。用酷夏，用風味則較能表示特殊的遺傳氣質。
第十一句，花朶換成寵兒，可否較明顯示出擬人化的涵意。
