Sonnet 3 　Look in thy glass and tell the face thou viewest　十二言

Look in thy glass and tell the face thou viewest,

看著鏡子，告訴你臉所看到的，
Now is the time that face should form another,

現在，那張老臉是應該翻新了，
Whose fresh repair if now thou not renewest,

如果你不續約，重裝全新原貌，
Thou dost beguile the world， unbless some mother.

你欺世，剝奪他人為（人）母的福報。
For where is she so fair whose uneared womb,

因為她那裹尚未開犁的子宮，
Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?

太美了，不屑於讓你插秧育種，
Or who is he so fond will be the tomb 

或許是他太熱於自戀，而碑塚
Of his self-love, to stop posterity?  

自封，停止播種繁衍而不傳宗？
Thou art thy mother's glass, and she in thee

你就是母親的鏡子，在你身上
Calls back the lovely April of her prime;

可以回溯她青春可愛的原型，
So thou through windows of thine age shalt see,

你應可看到，她年輕時的模樣，
Despite of wrinkles, this thy golden time.

除卻皺紋，這是你盛年的尊容。
　But if thou live remembered not to be,

但若你活的樣子不讓人思憶，
　Die single and thine image dies with thee.

孤單逝去,你的模樣與你同熄(息)。

第十三、十四句可翻譯如下：但若你決意不讓人記得你而活著,成為一個孤單的模具，孤獨的死去,你的模樣將與你離世同去。農耕（tillage）譯成插秧育種。thou art thy mother's glass 凸顯鏡子內看到的是自己的新版本。要生育，才能使自己即便到老了還可以在孩子身上體驗到自己的黃金歲月。
