Fairest creatures we desire increase,

優異的物種，我們願其大量繁衍，
That thereby beauty's rose might never die.

藉此，嬌美如玫瑰者將永續延綿，
But as the riper should by time decease,

但是生命成熟後，屆時終必凋零，
His tender heir might bear his memory:

他稚幼的後裔可能承續其基因：（記憶）
But thou, contracted to thine own bright eyes,

若是你自戀於自己明亮的眼睛，
Feed'st thy light'st flame with self-substantial fuel.

用你自身精髓，餵亮自己的光焮。
Making a famine where abundance lies,

讓人煙稠密大地，人口逐漸減損，
Thyself thy foe, to thy sweet self too cruel.

視己為敵，對可愛的自己太殘忍。
Thou that art now the world's fresh ornament,

你是當今世界上最年輕的精品，
And only herald to the gaudy spring,

是傳遞華麗春天的唯一品種（先鋒），
Within thine own bud buriest thy content,

卻將精萃深埋在自己的囊葩中，
And, tender churl, mak'st waste in niggardin.
吝嗇幼齒，浪費了囤積物於無用。

Pity the world, or else this glutton be,

疼惜這世界罷! 否則少子化反態(貪嘴的变態)  ，
　To eat the world's due, by the grave and thee.

你與你的墳，吃掉了欠世界的債。

sonnet 1  本詩主要的意思是要一位俊美的青年人結婚生子, 不要自戀自爽, 浪費了自己的精華而並沒有去繁延子嗣o從一到十五首都是同一目的, 要多生貴子。

第六句，光焮，意指面容紅腫發炎，有負面的意思。第十三句，少子化反態，稍有不合Glutton 的嘴饞貪吃之意。

可能指吃了第六句的self-substantial fuel。自評：此詩用了物種，基因，少子化， 幼齒，囊葩等較新的名詞；

囊葩應該是典雅的古語用詞，用嗣囊一詞亦可，但失去了bud 的味道。第十三句用少子化反應世界正處於人力不足的狀況，

尚可達意，第十四句仍未完整譯出。Sonnet 1 到 Sonnet 15 都有教導年輕人生養眾多以傳承自己的美意。
